COTA

I have been working as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant since July of 2004. I have a fundamental belief that every disabled child should be given encouragement and training to be as functionally independent as possible. I have been working in a school for children with autism since 2004. I have worked for adults in group homes and I am currently working for Early Intervention. The most extensive experience I have is in teaching functional independence for my disabled daughter.  I am a mother of four girls. My youngest has severe developmental delays and autism. This condition inspired me to go back to school to become a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant so I could learn as much as I could to help my children reach their highest potential. I have learned a lot in my many years as a parent and being a COTA.  I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy at Mercy College, NY.
